We are seeking experienced Safety Professionals to support a major DOE capital project delivering a next-generation soft x-ray light source, up to 1,000x brighter than the current facility. You'll be an integrated member of the project's safety team, helping keep a world-class scientific facility safe through design, construction, installation, testing, and commissioning.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify, assess, and mitigate hazards across construction, industrial, electrical, radiological, and hazardous-material work
- Support work planning & control, including review of work packages and Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs)
- Conduct field safety walkthroughs, observations, and readiness verifications
- Participate in engineering/design reviews and readiness reviews
- Develop and maintain safety documentation (procedures, plans, hazard analyses, technical reports)
- Support regulatory compliance and DOE oversight reviews
- Investigate incidents/near misses and drive corrective actions and lessons learned
- Collaborate closely with internal safety, radiation protection, engineering, and facilities teams
- Demonstrated experience in safety management on large construction or complex technical projects, ideally governed by DOE O 413.3B or similar standards
- Experience at DOE, nuclear, accelerator, or comparable facilities strongly preferred
- Familiarity with radiological, lead, industrial, and construction hazard controls
- Strong communication skills for coordinating across technical and safety teams
- Ability to work both in the field and in a planning/documentation capacity
