About the role

As a Waste Management & Landscaping Training Manager, you will have the opportunity to work closely with your dedicated team on a diverse range of projects, including landscaping, light construction, recycling, and natural resources management.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

In this role as a Field Manager, you will have the opportunity to guide and mentor young adults in personal and academic development, professionalism, public interaction, and work with the environment. You will be responsible for developing the team to enter the workforce.

 

Qualifications:

To excel in this position, you should possess the following qualifications and skills:

  • Effective leadership abilities with a track record of meeting targets, supported by at least 1 year of supervisory experience.
  • Enjoyment of physical work and dedication to maintaining the team's tools and equipment at the highest standards.
  • Willingness to learn new skills related to project trades (training will be provided) and exceptional communication skills to build rapport with young adults and community members.
  • Emotional control in handling discipline and accountability matters in the field.
  • Self-starter mentality with the ability to prioritize tasks and delegate as necessary.
  • Understanding of the soft skills necessary for success in the workplace, and a passion for teaching through actions and deeds.
  • Adherence to organizational policies, including safety protocols and COVID guidelines.
  • Positive attitude contributing to a productive and inclusive crew culture.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records.

 

Additionally, the following qualifications are required:

  • Experience working with diverse populations and the ability to supervise and motivate young adults from varied backgrounds.
  • Proficient conflict resolution skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise and motivate staff in collaborative environments.
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Preferred understanding of power tools, construction, and landscaping (training provided).
  • First Aid/CPR certification before the start of the training program.
  • Clean DMV record and ability to obtain a California Class B license.

 

Physical Demands:

This is a physically demanding position. The described physical demands and work environment are representative of those necessary to successfully perform the job's essential functions. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to fulfill these functions.

Expect frequent standing and walking, use of hands to operate equipment and tools, lifting up to 75 lbs., pulling up to 150 lbs., reaching with hands and arms, and performing simple grasping and fine manipulation. You may also have desk-based computer work, attend meetings, drive or ride in a flatbed truck for extended periods, intermittently twist to reach equipment, and climb ladders to access flatbed trucks.
